Chris Barnes lives in Cumbria in the north of England. He is a selected member of the Craft Potters Association and has exhibited his work in the UK and abroad. He currently works as a potter and also teaches ceramics to adults and children at The Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal, Cumbria. Chris has spent his professional life working with gas fired kilns, first in London and latterly in Cumbria. He first built a kiln whilst studying ceramics in 1988 and has made several large kilns fired with gas, for his own use. How to make & use Gas Fired Kilns - is a distillation of everything he has learned about firing and building kilns, so far. His latest book - The Clay Play Book - is for children. It is based on projects and ideas developed while teaching. This book is filled with illustrations of what you can do with clay and polymer clay. It has very practical advice on every aspect of making things with clay, presented in a fun way. The book is a tool to expand creative play with clay.
