I'm the Chief Creative Officer of IDW Publishing, a San Diego-based comic book and graphic novel publisher. I'm also an Eagle- and Eisner Award-nominated writer and editor, and author of numerous comic-book series, prose stories, a non-fiction book about comics, and more. Zombies vs Robots, co-created with artist Ashley Wood, is currently in development as a major motion picture with Sony Pictures. Also, I love you. Comics I've written include adaptations of SHAUN OF THE DEAD; MASTERS OF HORROR; GEORGE A. ROMERO'S LAND OF THE DEAD; CLIVE BARKER'S THE GREAT AND SECRET SHOW; short adaptations collected under the title DOOMED from Robert Bloch, Rochard Matheson, and David J. Schow, including the Eisner-nominated "Best Short Story" from 2005, "Blood Son." Additionally, I have adapted the Neil Gaiman/Roger Avary BEOWULF, co-written the first TRANSFORMERS MOVIE PREQUEL; written stories for GENE SIMMONS HOUSE OF HORRORS; WEEKLY WORLD NEWS; STRING DIVERS; MARS ATTACKS ("First Born"); multiple KISS comic series, and the first DIRK GENTLY comic series, based on Douglas Adams' creation. My graphic-novel co-creations include ZOMBIES VS ROBOTS (co-created with Ashley Wood); GROOM LAKE (co-created with Ben Templesmith); Frank Frazetta's Neanderthal, collected in The Fantastic Worlds of Frank Frazetta, Vol. 2 HC; THE COLONIZED (with Drew Moss); THE HOLLOWS (with Sam Kieth); and ONYX (with Gabriel Rodriguez). Most recently, I led the revival of 1980s priority ROM and co-wrote the series (with Christos Gage) for its 14-issue run. Prose releases include SUPERHEROES AND PHILOSOPHY ("The Fantastic Four as Family," co-written with Scott Tipton.); COMIC BOOKS 101 (co-written with Scott Tipton); CLASSICS MUTILATED ("Twilight of the Gods"); ZOMBIES VS ROBOTS: THIS MEANS WAR ("Meaner Than a Junkyard Dog"); and HARDBOILED HORROR ("Add One Medium-Sized Demon and Stir Over Low Heat"). I have also served as Editor-in-Chief for filmmaker Kevin Smith's entertainment Web portal, MoviePoopShoot.com, from 2002-2004; corporate speechwriter for American Honda; creative executive with Dick Clark Communications; and an advertising copywriter. In 2010, I wrote the text for Oakley's "Legion of Oakley" advertising comic book campaign and Web site. I'm based in San Diego, where I live with my wife Julie, daughter Lucy, two cats, and my adopted second child, who I call MacBook Pro.
