Christy Mihaly

关于作者

Christy Mihaly writes children’s books, articles, stories, essays, and poems. She practiced law for more than 20 years, and is particularly drawn to writing nonfiction -- all kinds of nonfiction! Her 2022 picture book "The Supreme Court and Us" is a lively introduction for young readers to the history and role of the U.S. Supreme Court. "FREE FOR YOU AND ME: What Our First Amendment Means," is a poetic introduction to our constitutional rights. Christy's poems appear in anthologies including "Imperfect: Poems about Mistakes," "Hop to It: Poems to Get You Moving," and "The Bee is Not Afraid of Me." Christy also writes about science, nature, and farming. "WATER: A Deep Dive of Discovery," her fall 2021 title, leads young readers on a fascinating tour of the world of water. "HEY, HEY, HAY!" tells the story, in verse, about how by making hay we can store summer in a bale. "Diet for a Changing Climate: Food for Thought," co-written with Sue Heavenrich, gives high school readers information about how changing what we eat can help the planet -- especially if we put more weeds, invasive species, and edible insects on our plates. Her 2022 picture book, "Patience, Patches!" is fiction. It's narrated by Patches the dog and tells the story of what happens when a new baby joins the family. Spoiler alert -- it involves a bit of waiting -- but it's worth it. Christy is a founding member of GROG, the group blog for writers and readers of children’s literature. She has at various points made her home in eight different states and in Spain, and is now happily settled in rural Vermont where she writes under the supervision of her dog and cat. See more at www.christymihaly.com; follow her on GROG (http://groggorg.blogspot.com). She's represented by Erzsi Deak of Hen and Ink Literary Studio.
