Cinco Paul grew up in Phoenix, Arizona dreaming of becoming a famous pop musician. He graduated summa cum laude from Yale University, then abandoned his dreams of pop stardom, got an M.F.A. in screenwriting from USC, and became a screenwriter instead. Life's funny that way. He has written the films Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2, Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who, Hop, Santa Clause 2 and Bubble Boy with Ken Daurio, and the two of them are currently writing several movies with release dates in 2016 and 2017, including Despicable Me 3. He is absolutely thrilled that the fake book in the Sleepy Kittens scene he wrote in Despicable Me has been turned a real book. And he agrees that the book should've been exactly like the one in the movie...but that's life. He turned his first movie, Bubble Boy, into a musical which can be licensed by Dramatists Play Service. Stephen Schwartz called Bubble Boy "One of the cleverest, funniest, and most endearing musicals I've seen in a long time." You should have your school or regional theatre do it!
