Clarissa Willis, Ph.D., is a professor emeritus of Special Education at the University of Southern Indiana. She was formerly the Senior Vice President for Intellectual Property at Kaplan Early Learning Company. Prior to that Clarissa was the associate director of the Center of Excellence in Early Childhood Learning and Development and an associate professor of Special Education at East Tennessee State University. Clarissa is a frequent keynote speaker and presenter at regional and national early childhood conferences. Her articles on child development and early childhood special education have been published both nationally and internationally. She has written four children's books, two with Young Dragons Press and two with Solander Press. Fast and the Wind, the story of the first pony express rider, received a Will Rogers Medallion Award in 2023.
