Constance J. Moore was born in Ames, Iowa. During her 25-year Army career, she served in various psychiatric nursing positions. Her other assignments included the Army Nursing Corps Historian, and Pentagon Crisis Management Team Member, where she provided support for the military and civilian staff after the 9/11 bombing. After retiring in 2008, she decided to check off the most important item on her bucket list: write a book. She is a confirmed “Ted Head” or Teddy Roosevelt lover who stumbled upon Maria when she came across an 8-page letter addressed to “Dear Theodore” rather “Mr. President.” Her curiosity led to Maria’s home town of Cincinnati and Nancy Broermann who opened up the world of this remarkable Cincinnatian. Together they collected nearly 1800 letters, in five languages, from archives all over the world trying to create Maria’s story. Their book, "Maria Longworth Storer: From Music and Art to Presidents and Popes," is published by the University of Cincinnati Press.
