Dan Buchanan

Dan Buchanan is The History Guy of Brighton, Ontario. He is an engaging storyteller who conducts an active speaking schedule. His in-depth research and practical view of history means that he is invited back time and again to tell another story and readers are anxiously awaiting his next book. In 2000 Dan began intense work building family trees and then, in 2004, the treesbydan web site was set up to provide his work to others. After moving to Brighton in 2010, the role of History Guy developed and has grown since then. In 2015, the first book as published and, in 2014, the fourth is out. Other work around Brighton includes being a history columnist for the Beacon, published by the Municipality of Brighton. As a member of the Brighton Heritage Advisory Committee, research is under way to document all properties in Brighton. Close cooperation with the Brighton Digital Archives results in work on many different archival collections and answering questions about pictures or people - whatever comes up.
