Dan Shaw, a fire service student since 1992, is an Assistant Fire Chief with the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department, Virginia. Dan has an Associate’s degree in Fire Service Supervision, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and is a graduate of the West Point Leadership Program. He currently serves as a principal member of the National Fire Protection Association (N.F.P.A.) Committee on Fire Service Training. He is a Vice President of Traditions Training delivering fire service programs nationwide. He has instructed at several nationally recognized training conferences on fireground topics. He is an editorial contributor to Fire Engineering magazine, and co-hosts a monthly podcast for Fire Engineering Talk Radio. He coauthored the best-selling book entitled 25 to Survive: Reducing Residential Injury and LODD. Dan was the Keynote speaker at FDIC International 2022.
