Dan Veach, author of Elephant Water, is the founder and editor of the international poetry journal Atlanta Review. Winner of the Willis Barnstone Translation Prize, he is co-editor and translator of Flowers of Flame (Michigan State University Press, 2008), the first anthology of wartime Iraqi poetry and winner of an Independent Publisher Book Award. Forthcoming translations include Beowulf & Beyond: Anglo-Saxon poems, stories, spells and riddles; and the Wang River Poems of Wang Wei and Pei Ti, ancient China's most famous poetic duet. Dan has performed his own poetry worldwide, including Oxford University and The Poetry Society in England, People's University in Beijing, The American University in Cairo, The Yeats Society in Ireland, The Poetry Café in Singapore, the Athenaeum in Madrid, The Greek Island Poetry Workshop on Spetses, and the Adelaide Festival of Arts in Australia.
