Dana SanMar is a Colombian illustrator and graphic designer currently established in Decatur, GA, U.S.A. Her love for illustration started at an early age due to her parents’ love for books. Her mother’s exposure to arts and crafts nourished her love for creating things by hand, while her dad fed her curiosity and taught her the importance of being resourceful. Her interest in storytelling through images guided her to pursue a career in graphic design and later on, in illustration. In 2019 she graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design M.F.A. Illustration program, and currently works as a freelance Illustrator and graphic designer. Dana’s favorite materials to work with are paper, glue, gouache, and her iPad. She also enjoys experimenting with different techniques and materials just for fun. Her curiosity and constant need for learning fuels her creativity. Dana´s work has been recognized by international illustration and design institutions like Red Dot Awards, 3x3 Magazine, Columbia Scholastic Press Association, and more. Dana loves to read a variety of topics like science, fantasy, and adventure. She also enjoys taking care of her plants and playing with her cats. On the weekends, she might go outdoors for a hike, or to camp in the Georgia mountains.
