F. Daniel Godward was born in Limehouse, East London, to a poor working-class family. Life was tough, but it did enable him to develop a good sense of black humor. He enjoys reading and began writing poetry from an early age, inspired by the nonsense verse of Edward Lear and Lewis Carroll. He has had a variety of jobs, starting early on in the racing profession and becoming the manager of a bookmaker. In the mid nineteen-seventies, he worked in accounts in the Daily/Sunday Telegraph newspaper. Although he loved the busy life of Fleet Street, in the late ’eighties, he took redundancy, managed a safe deposit company, then managed huge warehouses in Southeast London for a while before going back to the racing industry. He then turned a part-time acting job into a career, following his passion. He has had small roles in feature films and lead roles in small films. He has always written poetry in his spare time and now has a Facebook page (Danny Godward Poetry) devoted to his writing. Daniel is the author of The Ant and the Elephant and The Journey. He and his loving wife live in Kent, SE England, and they have three grown children all living abroad.
