DANIEL N. JOUDREY, MLIS, Ph.D., is Professor, School of Library and Information Science, Simmons University, Boston, Massachusetts, where he teaches information organization, subject cataloging and classification, and descriptive cataloging. His published works include the 11th edition of Introduction to Cataloging and Classification; the 3rd and 4th editions of The Organization of Information; “Cataloging,” in the 4th edition of The Encyclopedia of Library and Information Science; and articles on cataloging education. His research interests include aboutness determination, subject access to information, and cataloging education. He holds an MLIS and a PhD from the School of Information Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh, where his studies focused on subject cataloging, particularly that of determining aboutness.
