Daphne Bryan was born in Hampshire in 1948. She studied piano and voice at music college and has taught all her life. In her 50s she gained an MA and PhD in music psychology from Sheffield University. In 2010 she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and since then has researched ways to stay well. Her first book (Music as Medicine) investigated how music can help Parkinson’s symptoms. Her second book (Parkinson's and the B1 Therapy) discusses a therapy which has enabled her to continue to live a full and active life. She now lives in a village near the Trossachs in Stirlingshire, Scotland with her husband and two chickens, Winnie and Pooh.
