Darlene Deacon is the author of, “Under the Influence of Evil – A Brutally Abusive Childhood Exposed.” What began as hand written thoughts and memories became an obsession to write, grow and learn. Ultimately, realizing she had a lot of valuable lessons to share with others who had lived and survived unspeakable abuse; it became her mission to do just that. Then each time she finished—or thought she had—she realized she had much more growing to do before she had a book worthy of her readers. Then, 28 years later she finally finished; satisfied that she had done the best she could to effect a product her readers deserved. Later, she realized she could do more, so she began working as an advocate, working with legislators and senators to strengthen the laws that prosecute child sex offenders. Although Darlene is now physically disabled, her work history includes news reporting and producing at KIDK-TV, a CBS affiliate, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She got her start in television news as a writer at FOX's WSVN-TV Channel 7 in Miami where she was a newscast copywriter. Darlene also co-hosted with nationally-known radio talk show host, Dick Farrel, and fill-in host for the same show. She got her broadcast education at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in North Palm Beach, Florida, and studied creative writing at Broward Community College. Darlene is also a character actress and member of the Screen Actors Guild. She has appeared in several television productions. Her past credits include a co-starring role in a FOX television series called "Super Force" and a small part in a movie made for USA Network television entitled "Red Wind." Ms. Deacon now lives in the Puget Sound area of Western Washington State. She was born in Waltham, Massechusetts and grew up in Downeast Maine.
