Dave Brown

For nearly 30 years, Dave Brown was a professional magician with his original magic act and sleight-of-hand skills. He was a featured performer in Arts, Street and Comedy festivals around the globe. Armed with nothing but his skills and a determination to enjoy life, he travelled and lived in many countries around the world. As co-author of Dorling Kindersley’s Amazing Magic Tricks, Dave had a best-selling book in 16 languages. A freak accident and damage to his spine stopped his magic career, but not his wish to enjoy life. A passion for flamenco guitar led Dave to lessons from Ian Davies in London’s famous Flamenco Guitar Studio. Life got in the way and after his accident, playing the guitar was difficult. It took an unexpected gift of a ukulele to awaken the dormant passion. He built a website to encourage and help fellow Flamenco enthusiasts have a place to start their quest for knowledge. Writing books with transposed for ukulele tunes is a natural off-shoot of the website, and he continues to bring this niche ukulele form to a wider public. A chance discovery of a Tango set Dave off on another path. He immersed himself in the genre and transposed many tunes for his own enjoyment on his ukulele. A book and a website, both about Tango Ukulele, resulted from his newly found passion. On a whim he picked up a chromatic harmonica which he hadn't played for a few years and after dusting it off began a new journey of discovery. Tango sounds great on the harmonica and a book results from his study of this beautiful form of music.
