David Geherin is Professor Emeritus of English at Eastern Michigan University, where he taught courses in modern and contemporary British and American literature as well as several courses in crime and mystery fiction. He is also author of numerous articles and eleven books on the subject--Sons of Sam Spade; John D. MacDonald; Elmore Leonard; The Dragon Tattoo and Its Long Tail: The New Wave of European Crime Fiction; Small Towns in Recent American Crime Fiction; Carl Hiaasen: Sunshine State Satirist; The American Private Eye: The Image in Fiction; Scene of the Crime: The Importance of Place in Crime and Mystery Fiction; The Crime World of Michael Connelly: A Study of His Works and Their Adaptations. The latter three were finalists for the Edgar Allan Poe Award given by the Mystery Writers of America. His latest book is Organized Crime on Page and Screen: Portrayals in Hit Novels, Films, and Television Shows.
