David Jennings

David Jennings is the author of SKINFLICKS: The Inside Story of the X-Rated Video Industry. This nonfiction work was written with an advance from Zebra Books, whose editor reviewed every word before Zebra dropped the book in the wake of bad publicity from Madonna's tome, Sex. SKINFLICKS is based on Jennings's dozen-plus years of experience in the porn movie business as a producer, director, actor(pants on), manufacturer and researcher. After graduating from UCLA Film School in 1970, Jenning worked as an industrial filmmaker before joining "the biggest Mafia porno outfit on the West Coast (FBI claim)." He helped make that company's VCX subsidiary the early leader in adult video. Following a nasty parting from VCX, Jennings braved death threats to establish Superior Video, Inc. and pioneer the first adult features shot directly on videotape. After selling Superior Video, Jennings spent three years transcribing 342 audio cassettes--his journal of adventures in the porn business--before writing SKINFLICKS. The book is available on Kindle.
