David Johnson grew up in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in East Tennessee. DJ (as his friends call him) spent more than two decades in the corporate maze before recreating himself in a second career as a social worker and professor. DJ holds the B.Mus. degree from Mars Hill College in North Carolina. He earned his M.S.W. in 2005 from the University of Southern Mississippi, and in 2009, earned the Ph.D. in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin. DJ writes non-fiction in the social welfare policy arena, and is currently completing work as co-author on a policy textbook to be released in late 2011. "Miss Alphie's Secret," the first of a planned trilogy, is DJ's debut novel. The sequel, "Omega Burning," is scheduled for release in fall 2011. "Phoenix Rising" will complete the trilogy and will be released in late 2012 or early 2013. DJ lives in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country with his chow/pug mix, Doctor Nicodemus. Nick appears in "Miss Alphie's Secret" as young Charlie Nutterman's sidekick.
