David L. Chapman lives in Seattle, WA, and is the author of over a dozen books on male photography and bodybuilding, including "Sandow the Magnificent" (Univ. of Illinois, 1994), "American Hunks" (Arsenal, 2009), "Universal Hunks" (Arsenal, 2013) and "Venus with Biceps" (Arsenal, 2010). He also translated for the first time into English "The Kings of Strength" by French historian Edmond Desbonnet (McFarland, 2022). Chapman also translated "Love and Gymnastics" (Hesperus, 2011), an Italian comic novel from 1892 about a wimpy little man who falls in love with a large, muscular woman. He is also interested in Euro-jazz and has produced "Jazz Italiano" (Cambridge Scholars, 2019).
