I'm a British-American academic, a Senior Fellow/Associate at the LSE and a retired Professor of National Security Affairs at the US Naval War College. My books include 'The Decision Point' (Oxford University Press, 2012), 'A Citizen's Guide to American Foreign Policy' (Routledge, 2013), 'Political Psychology: Situations, Individuals, and Cases' (Routledge, 2009), 'Losing An Empire, Finding A Role' (with David Sanders, Palgrave Macmillan, 2017) and 'U.S. Foreign Policy and the Iran Hostage Crisis' (Cambridge University Press, 2001). My area of expertise is the psychology of decision-making, with a particular focus on American and British foreign policy. I have published academic articles in journals such as the British Journal of Political Science, Foreign Policy Analysis, Political Psychology, Security Studies, Terrorism and Political Violence, Policy Sciences, International Studies Review, the Journal of Cold War Studies and International Politics. I previously taught at the Universities of Pittsburgh, Central Florida, Essex and King's College London, and have guest lectured at many others, including IBEI in Barcelona, Spain, the South African Defence College, Clemson University and the Mershon Center at the Ohio State University.
