David Phillips (1946- ) was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His entire elementary and high school education was completed at Rift Valley Academy, Kenya, East Africa. He moved back to Canada and attended the University of Winnipeg, University of Manitoba, and the University of British Columbia. David has always enjoyed languages, from his childhood with the Tugen people of north-western Kenya, Swahili, New Testament Greek, Portuguese and Spanish, French, Turkish, and now Italian. He has battled hoards of mosquitos in the Brazilian Pantanal swampland, high inflation in Brazil, altitude sickness in Bolivia’s high Andes mountains, traffic jams in Istanbul, and crowded streets in India. His interest in archaeology and story-telling led him to explore Turkey’s ancient city life, and out of this exploration come seven novels about Christian life and trials in First Century Roman Asia Minor. During forty-three-years, he taught in Canada, Brazil, Bolivia, and Turkey. David has participated in ministry with Christians in many impoverished parts of the world. His worldwide connections have taken him to more than 50 nations as a speaker, resource person, counselor, and writer. His passions include story-telling, photography, community development, gathering people together, and encouraging a strong family life.
