Dawn Hogue, a veteran AP English teacher with 25 years of classroom experience, is also a poet and a fiction writer. She is most well known for her AP English Crash Course books from REA. Both books are highly regarded by teachers and students alike for their ease of use and concise summary of the skills and content needed for success on the AP English exams. New editions of both the AP English Literature and Composition and the AP English Language and Composition are now available. Her poetry has appeared in various literary publications including Stoneboat Literary Journal, Inscape Magazine, and Blue Heron Review. Hogue is the winner of the 2017 Hal Prize for Poetry; the winning poem "The Obligation" appeared in Peninsula Pulse. She has contributed to several poetry anthologies as well, including The Water Poems and From Everywhere a Little: A Migration Anthology. Her most recent work is titled Painting South Pier (2019). It is a collection of poems inspired by the four seasons at the South Pier District in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. A Hollow Bone, her debut novel from Water’s Edge Press, was released June 2017, and has received numerous positive reviews.
