DeMarius Jackson has enjoyed a varied and exciting career as a woodwind instrumentalist and conductor. His performances have taken him across the country and internationally, from the Monterey Jazz Festival in Monterey, CA, to the Thailand International Jazz Conference in Mahidol, Thailand. In 2005, he joined the Marine Corps Music Program as a saxophonist. While in the Marine Corps, he was stationed in Jacksonville, NC; Virginia Beach, VA; Okinawa, Japan; Cherry Point, NC; and New Orleans, LA. For eighteen years, Dr. Jackson was a conductor and musician in various Marine Bands, winning awards for musical excellence. As a musician and conductor of Marine Corps Field Bands, Dr. Jackson has led hundreds of performances and can be heard on three compact disc recordings. He is currently the Director and Officer in Charge of the III Marine Expeditionary Force Band in Okinawa, Japan. As a woodwind instrumentalist, Dr. Jackson has performed with various orchestras, including the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, and the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with numerous artists, including; Aaron Neville, Jennifer Holliday, Wayne Bergeron, Steve Gatlin, Eddie Gomez, and many more. Dr. Jackson’s teachers include Denis Diblasio, Dr. Phil Thompson, Dr. William Malambri, Jim Nesbit, and George “Skip” Gailes.
