Deanna Parker, a young black author hailing from Decatur, GA, embarked on her literary journey at the tender age of six, penning verses of poetry that eventually evolved into captivating short stories. Influenced profoundly by activist icons like the Black Panther Party, Angela Davis, Tupac Shakur, James Baldwin, and Malcolm X, Deanna carried a fervent desire to contribute meaningfully to her community. As she transitioned into young adulthood, Deanna recognized the glaring absence of representation in the literature that shaped her childhood. Driven by a passion to fill this void, she set out to be the change she wished to see. Now, with each children's book she writes, Deanna is on a mission to instill values of heritage, self-love, and self-discovery, empowering the youth and fostering a new narrative for generations to come.
