Debbie Peterson

The first directly elected female mayor of Grover Beach, California, former council member, planning commissioner, and advocate for good government, Debbie Peterson hosts the podcast, The Corruption Chronicles. She is the author of The Happiest Corruption - Sleaze, Lies & Suicide in a California Beach Town; Local Government 101; How to Beat City Hall; and 365 Ways of Good Govern-ers. The author's business experience taught her how to follow the money. Her public red flags analysis and recruitment of the nation's top forensic auditor led to the clean up of two public agencies and to convictions of public officials and their accomplices. As the DA, FBI, and Fair Political Practices Commission continue to investigate public corruption in her county Debbie Peterson's insistence on public engagement, transparency, and accountability continues to improve local government. Debbie Peterson studied journalism and radio-TV at California State University, Fresno, before completing an undergraduate degree in communications and public relations at the University of Idaho.
