Deborah S. Reisinger (1969-) was born in St. Louis, Missouri to two educators committed to ensuring equity and access in education. Deb received B.A.s from the University of Kansas in French and East Asian Studies, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from UNC-Chapel Hill in French Studies. She has taught at Duke University since 2000. Her first book, Crime and Media in Contemporary France (2007,) explored the fictionalization of crime, zeroing in on protests of plays and films depicting real crime stories. Her second book, Community-based Language Learning (co-authored with Clifford, 2019) is a turn to student-and community-centered learning and outlines a methodology of critical service-learning in world languages. Her most recent book, Affaires globales (co-authored with Guzman and Dieu-Porter, 2020), is a textbook targeting students who aspire to use advanced language skills in professional environments.
