Debra Kostiw

关于作者

Debra Kostiw gets fired up about advocating for seniors. Her passion ignited over a decade ago with the simultaneous opening of her home care business and her mother's diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, Kostiw is now transforming the way we look at cognitive care through the organization she founded, Answers About Alzheimer’s, Inc. Debra's mother was manipulated into signing a Power of Attorney and moved to another state, where she was physically, financially, and psychologically abused for two and a half years, until her predator took her precious life (View Debra's full story on YouTube and www.AnswersAbout Alz.org). It was this devastating tragedy that influenced Kostiw to fight tirelessly for all seniors. Kostiw's first law, which would prevent someone from inheriting money if convicted of elder abuse, is currently on the floor of the New York State Senate. Solicited by the Alzheimer's Association to educate the medical community and approached by WYSL to host her own radio show, Debra Kostiw is an influential Alzheimer's and dementia trainer pioneering new models for dementia care. Her life's work is devoted to those with cognitive decline and a desire to inspire a stronger, broader awareness of elder abuse.
