Dee Malchow was born in Seattle, Washington, and currently lives just north of the city. She has enjoyed writing most of her life. Sometimes she wrote humorous poems and short stories. Later it became stories about her family history. When age 19, Dee lost her right lower leg in a boating accident. Dee became a Clinical Nurse Specialist regarding amputations and worked for 34 years at Seattle's Level I Trauma Center, Harborview. During her employment she wrote several professional articles and book chapters. Currently she is drawing from her personal and professional experiences and writing about amputation recovery. Dee is married and she and her husband have two grown married children and eight grandchildren. They all enjoy escape times to the Blue Mtns. of Washington state.
