Dodge Billingsley began writing professionally for a number of defense publications in the mid 1990s while covering the wars of the Caucasus; Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Chechnya. He was one of the first journalists/writers into Afghanistan after 9/11 and was present at the Qala-i-Jangi fortress uprising and the capture of the American Taliban John Walker Lindh in November 2001. He followed that by embedding with soldiers of the 101st Air Assault Division for Operation Anaconda in March 2002. His subsequent work, Operation Anaconda: America's First Conventional Battle in Afghanistan, which he co-authored with Les Grau, tells the story of the US side of that operation. Dodge is also an accomplished documentary filmmaker and produced a companion documentary to his book on Operation Anaconda entitled Shah-i-Khot: Valley Redoubt. His most recent book, Fangs of the Lone Wolf: Chechen Tactics in the the Russian-Chechen Wars 1994-2009, is a collection of essays on military tactics based on numerous interviews with former Chechen combatants and veterans of the wars with Russia.
