I was raised in Schenectady, N.Y. (the frontier in 1781) with the Revolution around me. In school, we took field trips to places like the Saratoga battlefield and Fort Johnson. I watched "Johnny Tremain" and read Last of the Mohicans. We spent summers in Boston. My mom would drop me off on the Freedom Trail, where I'd wander the Old Granary Burying Ground and ponder the site of the Boston Massacre. After careers as a reporter, press secretary, and, finally, public information officer for the Northwest's pre-eminent health care system, I've written a book about the months after the British surrendered at Yorktown in 1781. Coincidentally, I live in the state named after a Revolution general you might have heard of...George Washington. donglickstein.com
