Dorinda was born in Hawaii to a Hawaiian mother and Caucasian father. At age 6, she was an eye witness to the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Since then she believes it is her mission to bring WWII history to life for young readers. She is a sought-after speaker from classrooms in the U.S., in Indonesia to the American embassy in Prague. What she is most proud of is that her book Pearl Harbor Warriors was chosen as Hawaiiʻs 1st simultaneous read=aloud book and was read to more than 10,000 students telling the story of how hatred can become friendship, eventually. In her newest book, she is excited to retell her story in color book style so parents can share Hawaiiʻs war history and maybe inspire a future family trip to Hawaii. Watch for the release of The Pearl Harbor Visitor Guide to Where the Bombs fell which will launch in March 2018. These are tips to know before you go.
