Welcome! My books depict good character development and good sportsmanship. Written for middle-grade students, the settings of my first two books are on the baseball and softball diamonds. Read twice, once for the story line and the second for the important educational messages. Riley’s Winning Catch; Good Character Prevails - Riley has Down syndrome, but wants to play softball on a girls’ team and not get teased or bullied about her lack of skills. She finds a caring coach who teaches character along with softball skills. Pitching for Success: Character Lessons, the Joe Nuxhall Way, discusses the importance of excellent character and sportsmanship nestled in a story about a little league pitcher and his fear of failure. His father, the coach, shares some character teachings by the late, great Joe Nuxhall. I give character presentations to elementary students using my books. Each book encompasses my experiences as both a baseball and softball coach for over twenty years and teaches the reader about character and good sportsmanship.
