Doug grew up in Vancouver Washington, close to a local airfield. That as well as his Father's employment at United Airlines drew him towards and early interest in Aviation. He documents his 50 years of flying in his first memoir, 'Dream to Fly'. After serving in Vietnam as a Warrant Officer Helicopter pilot he returned to Vancouver. He was hired by the local Sheriff's Office and ended up serving nearly 30 years in Law Enforcement. Some of his 'cop' stories, as well as those from many he served with are documented in his next book, 'Our Thin Lines'. After retirement he and his wife Lynn owned and operated a light sport aviation company, along with partners. This unique experience is documented in a co-authored book, 'Six Chuter-A Twenty Five Year Legacy.' He and Lynn are now fully retired and live half a year in Southern California. Doug as become an avid Radio Control pilot and is currently in the process of publishing another memoir type book, 'My Great RC Adventures'.
