Doug White is a storyteller, author, and speaker whose career spans over 30 years of dedicated service to his country and community. As a Security Forces specialist in the Air Force (1993–2007) and a 25-year deputy sheriff with a major law enforcement agency in west-central Florida, Doug has lived a life of service at the highest levels. His professional journey included roles as a patrolman, field training officer, domestic violence and child abuse investigator, advanced and specialized training instructor, certified bomb technician, and leader of specialized units like the Special Incident Management Section and Environmental Crimes Unit. Rising to the rank of lieutenant, Doug commanded teams that handled critical incidents and high-liability operations. Doug's military career took him from security and law enforcement patrolman in the United States Air Force to serving with the Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) program at the 919th Special Operations Wing and later at Headquarters United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). Following the events of 9/11, Doug voluntarily returned to active duty for 37 months, serving in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. As a founding member of the command's Protective Services Detachment, he provided support during the tenures of General Peter Schoomaker and Admiral Eric Olson. A Story of Resilience and Growth: Doug’s personal journey mirrors the intensity of his professional life. From achieving the pinnacle of leadership to confronting the depths of despair, Doug has faced the heavy toll of post-traumatic stress (PTS) and the psychological and physiological injuries that accompany it. His path led him through moments of hopelessness to a powerful transformation fueled by grit, grace, and vulnerability. Today, Doug is committed to breaking the silence surrounding PTS and mental health challenges in the veteran and first responder communities. Through his writing and speaking, he sheds light on the resilience and strength found in sharing one’s story and embracing vulnerability. His mission is to empower others to see a way forward, showing that growth, healing, and purpose are possible—even in the face of life’s greatest challenges. Doug’s book and platform, Tell This Story, inspire veterans, first responders, and their families to thrive by embracing authenticity, resilience, and hope. His voice is one of honesty and empowerment, encouraging others to share their own stories and find their path to transformation.
