Doug Green brings a down-to-earth style and easy gardening systems to his lifetime of organic garden achievements. A former specialist nurseryman who used to produce 1600-1800 varieties of perennials and 600-800 varieties of annuals every spring in his greenhouses, Doug closed down the nursery in 1998 to write full time. His 2001 book, "Gardening Wisdom" won the top award for writing from the Garden Writers Association and he has done radio shows, magazine articles and even a newspaper column for over ten years. He currently writes for his own websites and ebooks as well as a few freelance opportunities that present themselves regularly. Refusing to take himself seriously, he believes in enjoying gardens, his old British sports car and sailing. What his friends will tell you is his books are works of love because he'd rather write and garden than do most other things. Doug lives on an island with his heirloom vegetable expert life-partner Mayo Underwood, and is the insanely proud father of four children.
