Dr. Douglas B. Sims is an environmental soil scientist with over two decades of experience in environmental consulting. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and his PhD from Kingston University London. In 2011, Doug transitioned from industry to academia, bringing his extensive expertise to higher education. He initially taught courses in environmental science before advancing to the role of Dean at the College of Southern Nevada's School of Science, Engineering, and Mathematics. Dr. Sims is well-published in peer-reviewed journals on topics related to his field. Beyond his professional achievements, he is a keen observer of human behavior, particularly interested in interpersonal relationships and the dynamics of dating. He is currently writing books on relationships, higher education, and retirement planning, where he blends his scientific acumen with his curiosity about human interactions. Married to his college sweetheart since the mid-1990s, he and his wife have raised two grown children.
