Resume for the record: Pastor. Business Owner. Church Founder. Columnist. Catastrophe Adjuster. Author. Blogger at Spurling Silver. Professional Rodeo (a long time ago). Off the record: Professional mistake-maker. Expert getter-upper-off-the-dirt. Bucked off more than stayed on. Somehow, by the grace of God...here am I. Through all that mess, God was gracious, and gave a message. The strength of family, the power of prayer, and the battles that rage against them. You can read all about it at: Spurling Silver My youth was spent splashing in lakes around St. Peter, Minnesota. I could teach anybody how to water ski. One of my favorite things was sailing, after all the big, noisy, stinky, gas hogs were put up for the night. Out of high school, I pursued the dream of becoming a Pastor—simply the best position in the entire world; shepherding a little flock. However, the relationship with Evangel Bible College, became a brief flirtation. I quit to go home and fix my parents broken marriage. That didn’t turn out so good. After their divorce, I got lost. Ended up driving truck for Coke, and riding (mostly falling) professional rodeo. I married a girl from the rodeo. We had four of the most awesome kids ever born. I found my moral compass, helped pioneer a church, became youth pastor, owned a floor covering business, life was great...until it wasn't. After twelve years of marriage...another divorce. I got lost, again. Rebounded through relationships faster than the ink could dry. Wound up chasing storms, as an insurance adjuster. After hopping more roofs than Santa, my gun shy, wounded soul, healed enough to try love again. Time flies and I hit half a century. That’s when folks do some soul searching. I did, and resurrected a childhood passion—writing. I blinked, a decade went by, and the best was saved for last. Without going anywhere, or pursuing anything, but Him; God showed up and delivered right to my door, a dream, I thought, was forever dead. With tears of joy welling, I’m so very humbled and honored, to add this most recent addition to my resume: Pastor—simply the best position in the entire world; shepherding a little flock
