Dr. Frank Bisceglia Ed.D

The author, Dr. Frank Bisceglia, Ed.D., has taught Tai Chi since 1978 for the Y.M.C.A.’s of Allegheny, Beaver, and Washington Counties; Community Colleges of Allegheny and Beaver Counties, the Selma Burke Art Center, the Yoga and Meditation Center of Pittsburgh, The Unity Center, and the Black Dragon Karate School of Pittsburgh. Over the past 40 years he has conducted numerous workshops and private instruction in the Pittsburgh and Beaver areas. In 1969, he got his first exposure to the martial arts while teaching High School Art in Okinawa. In the early 70’s, he continued his studies of Shotokan Karate and Kung Fu. He became a student of Tai Chi Chuan in 1975. Along with past visits to India, South Korea, China, and Tibet, in 2019 he studied at the Chinese Tai Chi Institute of Taiwan, in Taipei. Dr. Bisceglia has learned different styles of Tai Chi but has adhered to teaching the traditional Yang style taught by his first instructor and longtime friend, Master Kim Yo-Chou. Frank is also the author of TAI CHI: THOUGHTS & THEORIES. Dr. Bisceglia has devoted nearly 70 years of his life towards maintaining a healthy level of physical fitness through sports training, exercise, and diet. It started with Midget Football which led to being an All-City Football player at Westinghouse High School. He received an Athletic Scholarship to Edinboro University, where he lettered in Football and Wrestling. Frank later coached both sports at Plum Boro High School. He was also a fitness consultant for Wrestlers at Carrick High School. He earned a B.S. in Art Education, a Masters in Instructional Design and Technology, and a Doctorate in Educational Administration. He also completed Graduate studies at the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He is a retired Art Instructor from the Pittsburgh Public School District. He currently teaches PAINTING WITH ACRYLICS and TAI CHI at the Community College of Beaver County. He has traveled the world extensively to enrich his interest in Art History and Tai Chi Chuan. He frequently receives awards for paintings of places he has visited. Dr. Bisceglia currently lives in the town of Beaver, located in western Pennsylvania.
