I am currently the Assistant Superintendent in the Hopewell Area School District. Prior to this appointment, I served as a Principal and Director of Elementary Education for 10 years. My Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education is from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Master’s Degree in Instructional Leadership from Robert Morris University. My doctorate was earned in curriculum and instruction, also from IUP. An active member of PAESSP since 2005, I was recognized as a finalist for the National Distinguished Principals Program in 2013 and 2014. I've been interested in writing for a long time but have pursued publication in the last few years. I've had numerous articles published and have served as an editorial advisor for Principal Magazine. In March 2016, Corwin Press published my first book, STEAM Makers in the Elementary Classroom: Using Creativity and Innovation to Teach and Learn. My website www.steam-makers.com includes valuable information about STEAM and Making. In my spare time, I love to read and hang out with my family (Two boys, ages 2 and 4). My amazing husband has been a long time supporter of my ongoing pursuit of education and my desire to improve as a writer.
