Jan Yager is a consultant, coach, speaker, and the author of 60+ award-winning books, with translations into 35 languages. Jan, the former J.L. (Janet Lee) Barkas, has a B.A. in Fine Arts from Hofstra University, an M.A. in Criminal Justice, from Goddard College Graduate Program, and a Ph.D. in Sociology from The City University of New York Graduate Center. Jan's master's thesis was on "Victims of Crime and Social Change." She went on to publish a book about crime victims, VICTIMS, to teach victimology and criminology courses, and to write the textbook, ESSENTIALS OF VICTIMOLOGY, published in 2022 by Aspen Publishing with a 2nd edition due out in 2025. Business including time management and relationships are two additional areas of research and concern for Jan, besides crime victims and vegetarianism.
