Rachel Pauls, MD, FACOG is a world-renowned pelvic reconstructive surgeon, educator and researcher, as well as passionate cook and medical blogger. She follows a personalized low-FODMAP diet to successfully treat her own IBS symptoms. Dr. Pauls completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at TriHealth, Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists, a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Canada, and was one of the first surgeons to be Board Certified in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery in the United States. Dr. Pauls is a prolific writer, and has published over 110 journal articles and textbook chapters. She served as Program Director for the Fellowship in Urogynecology at TriHealth for 9 years, as well as the Director of Research for the Division for 12 years. She has participated as an Associate Editor and/or Peer Reviewer for over 20 academic publications. In order to help others solve their digestive issues, in 2016, Dr. Pauls founded Rachel Pauls Food. Her company quickly became one of the world’s leading makers of delicious certified low-FODMAP food, including six flavors of energy bars (Happy Bars), beef jerky, soup bases, spice blends, and baking mixes. In April, 2024, her website (rachelpaulsfood) re-launched as 'Dr. Rachel Pauls' with a primary focus on IBS and FODMAP recipes and education. It contains over 550 FREE low-FODMAP recipes, numerous educational blog posts, and the highly regarded low-FODMAP ‘Happy Gut Guide’ PDF. Dr. Pauls has written two books to help others begin and maintain the low-FODMAP diet. "The Low-FODMAP IBS Solution Plan and Cookbook", published in 2020, and "The FODMAP Reintroduction Plan and Cookbook", released in May, 2023. She resides in Cincinnati, Ohio, with her family and her labradoodle, 'Winston'.
