Ruth Allen

关于作者

Ruth Allen is a psychotherapist, trainer and writer based in the Peak District (UK) specialising in ecopsychotherapeutic/outdoor practice. Her works brings together elements of traditional talking therapy, body work, movement and existential philosophy, and takes them outside into wild spaces where there is an opportunity to explore aspects of Self and lived-experience within the rest of nature. Ruth regularly contributes to mainstream and independent publications on themes of mental and emotional wellbeing, nature connectedness and adventure, and her work has been featured in Stylist Magazine, The Telegraph as well as BBC Radio 4 Ramblings with Clare Balding. Ruth is a keen occasional-adventurer when she has the time and in 2018 ran the length of the Bosnian Dinaric Alps solo and unsupported. She is interested in the inner and outer journeys we make, the stories we tell about them and the time we spend in solitude cultivating a two-way relationship with the living planet. Before entering the world of therapy, Ruth completed her PhD in Himalayan Geology in 2008, before later studying part-time for an MA in Creative Writing (Poetry), and worked in Higher Education for ten years. She credits a lifelong and 'interdisciplinary' relationship with nature as shaping the work she does today with individuals, groups and organisations.
