Before emigrating to Spain, I’d lived what most might describe as a pretty unremarkable life: I’m a musician whose popstar dreams were dashed (more than once) at a young age and who found success ultimately in IT. Resident in Spain since 2016, I’ve loved writing funny poems all my life, thanks to the inimitable Pam Ayres, and when I found I had a bit more time on my hands, I thought I’d turn my hand to a more expansive writing career, writing amusing travelogues and action thrillers. I enjoy the writing process, and like most writers, I don’t write to be famous or earn a million – although that would be very nice, of course, even if the Spanish state would end up keeping more than half the proceeds – and so I’m really writing to entertain the reader. I have so far written two travelogues, “Tapas, Tears & Tribulations: A Year in Andalucía”, and its follow-up “Sun, Sea & Spider Bites: Three More Years In Andalucía“. The books look back humorously at a variety of struggles with Spanish red tape and the local wildlife, with an often irreverent take on Spanish history as we explore some of its magnificent towns and cities along the way. I have one action thriller so far published called “Eye For An Eye” under the author name Andy Hughson.
