E. M. Robinson

关于作者

In her daily life, E. M. Robinson is Elizabeth Robinson. She has loved both dogs and science since grade school when she taught her English bulldog Freckles to bark out the atomic weights of Hydrogen and Helium. While pursuing her bachelor's in anthropology and minors in geology & education, she took every beginning science class offered "just for fun." She earned her master’s in human factors engineering, plus a graduate certificate in business. A life-long educator, Elizabeth has taught science and math in middle school, high school, college, and currently in the university.  Elizabeth has lived in 6 states and traveled 4 continents. She's won awards for her photography and climbed the 5 volcanoes in Washington State, where she grew up. She now lives outside of Seattle with her husband Chris, the real Amber, and their 6 hens. Elizabeth originally wrote "Veronica's First Book of Elements" for her 18-month-old granddaughter and illustrated it with photos of her puppy. Veronica kept asking for the book even after she had memorized all 10 elements, and Elizabeth figured no toddler does that just to be polite. Born to a family of writers, it wasn't long before she made a real book out of it, which became "Amber's Atoms - The First 10 Elements of the Periodic Table." As author, Elizabeth created the story and wrote the verses. She and artist Susan McAliley co-illustrated it. Elizabeth used her scientific, artistic, and Photoshop® skills to create the technical illustrations. Referencing many of Elizabeth’s puppy photographs, artist Susan McAliley created the paintings. It's now Elizabeth's goal to promote curiosity and scientific literacy in a generation of children with a series of Amber books, while making them attractive for the parents and other adults who may find themselves reading them multiple times to help their kids.
