I Will Never Forget won the prestigious National Indie Excellence Award, Aging Category in 2013 as well as 6 additional book awards. Elaine C Pereira is a licensed Occupational Therapist. She graduated with a both her Bachelor's and Master’s Degrees from Wayne State University. Additionally, she holds certificates as Certified Dementia Practitioner and Caregiver, CDP, CDC. Pereira was inspired to share her mother's story in part to help others know they are not alone. "My mother's was a story that needed to be told. She was a kind, brilliant and talented person all of her life until Alzheimer's took hold leaving an agitated, bewildered and compromised woman in its wake. After a decade of great personal sacrifice and unspeakable losses, Mom started her descent into dementia. I stepped up as she slid down, grateful to give back to the woman who gave so much!" Pereira works now to help advance Alzheimer's awareness especially through her Community Based and Professional Presentations as well as increase donations to research through sales of I Will Never Forget. Elaine and her husband Joseph live in southeastern Michigan with their furkids. Together they have five adult children and five wonderful grandchildren.
