Elisabeth Askin

Elisabeth Askin, MD, is a primary care internist and author. She attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she studied history, and afterwards became interested in health politics and policy. She then went to medical school at Washington University in St. Louis, where she met Nathan Moore. The two decided to write the introduction to health care delivery and policy that they wanted to read. Initially envisioning a short pamphlet, the project expanded, and now, a decade later, they are publishing the third edition. Elisabeth completed residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, staying on as faculty afterwards. At UCSF, she sees patients, teaches residents, and engages in work on quality improvement and alternative payment models.
