Emma Myles is a Northern California bred, New York City based writer, artist, activist, and food enthusiast, whose affinity for cooking was born out of a massive eating disorder relapse, but quickly became the lifeline for her unconventional road to recovery. Her debut book, The Trigger Kitchen: Dismantling Diet Culture One Unapologetic Recipe at a Time, is a cookbook/ memoir hybrid filled with candid personal stories, anecdotal recipes, and relatable commentaries on how the over-normalization of diet culture consistently and deviously sets us all up for, at best, short term failure, and, at worst, a lifetime of self-punishing misery. Weaving together humor and heartbreak, strength and weakness, joy and turmoil, the desire to love ourselves and the societal expectations that make that near impossible, Emma explores the radical notion of reframing our relationships with food for the sake of our relationships with our bodies, and offers the reader a delicious escape route out of the unrelenting maze of diet culture. Both a self-proclaimed 90's trivia savant, and an anxiety riddled actor, she is best known for her role as Leanne Taylor on the hit show Orange is the New Black, for which she won three Screen Actors Guild awards.
