As an Associate Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, Professor of History and Director of the Black World Studies program at Northern Kentucky University, with almost twenty-eight years of academic experience at the university level, I have taught numerous classes in a variety of fields, such as "Introduction to Black Studies," "History of Race Relations in the Americas," "Historical Themes in African American History," "History of the New South," and the "War of Independence and the United States Constitution." I have also published a wide array of book reviews and articles in many local, regional, national, and international journals, such as the "Journal of African American History," the "Journal of Negro Education," "Ohio History," the "International Journal of World Peace," and the "Journal of Pan African Studies." Currently I serve on the editorial board and resided as the Book Review Editor of the "Journal of Pan African Studies" as well as am on the editorial board of the "Northern Kentucky Heritage Magazine." I also have served on the Kentucky Historic Preservation Review Board/Commission and the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage. From 2014 to 2021, I published three books, "Cincinnati's Underground Railroad" (Arcadia Publishing, Inc. 2014), "Unique Challenges in Urban Schools: The Involvement of African American Parents" (Rowman and Littlefield, 2015), and "Let Freedom Ring for Everyone: The Diversity of Our Nation" (Cognella Publishing, 2021). I also have published an online book on African Americans in Cincinnati, Ohio as well as an essay in an art exhibition book titled "Through Darkness to Light: Photographs Along the Underground Railroad." Recently I completed an "Introduction to Black Studies" textbook (University of Kentucky Press, 2023 - awarded the 2023 Thomas D. Clark Medallion Book Award). In 2016 I was the recipient of the World Civility Award by "IChangeNations." In my "free" time, I listen to a ton of Smooth Jazz and an "over-the-top" baseball fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago White Soxs.
