Erika Hertel

Erika Hertel lives in Northern New Mexico with her husband and four children. As an artist and graphic designer, she wanted to create a children’s book for her kids that followed her own travels. She has done several long trips throughout the years, covering nearly every continent. The illustrations are inspired from her own travel photos. Many of the trips took place many years ago, so some of the destinations or activities may have changed since then. Brogan the Backpacker in New Zealand is the first book Erika Hertel has written and illustrated. Brogan the Backpacker in India will be released in Summer 2024. Heidi the Hiker in the Himalayas was released in March of 2024. Soon to come is Lotte and Elsie the Sailing Sisters series.
