Esme Crick

Hi! I'm Esme, the crochet designer behind Red Sparrow Crochet. I love geometry and colour, and my modern, bold approach to crochet makes my designs instantly recognisable. Since I discovered the technique of mosaic crochet about 3 years ago, my work has found its spiritual home, and I try to represent the natural world around me in geometric forms. My recent designs have been inspired by trees, insects, birds, the sky...it all makes me feel at one with the world. Crocheting has the same effect, so whether under the trees or with a hook in my hand, I’m in my element. My designs have featured in of the UK's biggest crochet and craft magazines for many years, and I am privileged to work closely with the Dutch yarn company Scheepjes as a designer and text editor. I run a successful Etsy shop where I showcase many of my patterns. 'Mosaic Crochet Workshop' is my first book and I am extremely proud to have written it. When I am not working, I am usually found in the kitchen, cooking huge vegetarian feasts for my family as we're all real foodies. I live in the beautiful county of Suffolk, England, with my partner, our 2 children and our very grumpy cat, Hank Deluxe. Esme x
